Sponsorship
Please consider being a sponsor or a friend to Pacificas Charities.
Our Mission
To provide funding for cultural and educational activities for disadvantaged
youths both domestically and internationally.
Our History
The idea behind Pacificas Charities started a decade ago as a way to
introduce and educate the children of our friends and relatives in Pacific Rim
dance (Hula, Polynesian, Philippine Folk, etc.).
In 1998, we started out with 6 children on our patio. Over the years
the Pacificas Dance Troupe has grown to over 60 children from the Chicago Western suburbs.
Each child participates in the two week class plus Luau recital. Last year
over 320 friends and relatives joined us in the annual luau recital. Most
of our students just call it "Hula".
For the last 8 years we have supported Nancy Young Elementary school in their 2nd
grade Hawaiian curriculum. We put on a special Hula presentation for the
school with some
of our summer students.
In addition, we have also performed at many birthday parties for both the
young and old. Everyone seems to enjoy Hula and Pacific Rim dance.
In September of 2006, we decided to change the focus of the program
away from an ad hoc backyard event to a way to give back to the community
at large. To that end, we have incorporated as an Illinois not-for-profit
corporation with the
annual luau as a fund raising event.
Currently Pacificas Charities has:
-
Federal 501(c) 3 exemption
-
Registered with the Illinois Secretary of State as a Not-for-Profit
Corporation.
-
Registered with the Illinois Attorney General as a corporation under The
Charitable Trust and The Solicitation for Charity Acts.
-
Registered with the Illinois Department of Revenue as organized and operated
exclusively for charitable Purposes and therefore exempt from Illinois:
·
Retailers' Occupation Tax
·
The Service Occupation Tax (both state
and local)
·
The Use Tax
·
The Service Use Tax
The Creative Force
Every summer, on the last two weeks in July, dance lessons are held and we host a luau to showcase the
talents of the students of Rose Brandenburg. As the creative force behind the
Pacificas Dance Troupe, Rose was trained in dance in the Philippines and Japan. She has
performed professionally in the Philippines, Japan, and the United States. Rose
specializes in Hawaiian, Philippine folk, and many other Pacific Rim dance
styles. She also has expertise in contemporary jazz dance.
This year we will celebrate our 15th annual event. We will
have 60 slots which will be offered to those who performed last year
first. In other words, if you danced last year and want to dance again this
year, you will have a slot.
We will open remaining slots to the general public on March
1st. We offer these remaining slots on a first come first serve basis. We
do maintain a wait list. If your child has never participated and you are
interested, please contact us so we can place you on the list.
Those in need
We are pleased to announce that we have been in touch with two organizations
as the objects of Pacificas' charitable giving

-
Esperanza Home Ministries Inc. A Philippine
Christian charity focusing on helping disadvantaged families. In
particular, they help fund the education for several disadvantaged youths as
well as run a battered women's shelter.
They do not have a web site but we have their informational DVD. Please
click the button below to go to EHM's Latest news.

Profits received from the annual luau, birthday
parties, and private lessons will be sent
to these two organizations. In addition, we are up and running with
the tax exempt status, we can take direct donations for either of
these two groups.
